Wang Tianran,born in March 1943, graduating from Harbin Institute of Technology in 1967. Heconducted research on artificial intelligence and robotics as a visitingscholar at Carnegie Mellon University of the United States from 1982 to 1985.Currently, Wang serves as a professor at Shenyang Institute of Automation(SIA), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He is also director of the NationalEngineering Research Center on Robotics in China, and the Academician of theChinese Academy of Engineering (CAE).
Wang devotes hisefforts to research and application of robotics and large-scale industrial automationsystem. Due to his contribution to the field, he has won China’s NationalScientific and Technological Progress Prizes, Technological Progress Prize ofCAS, Technological Sciences Prize of Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation, and LiaoningProvincial Science and Technology Award.
